It is a foggy day at the coast. The white pelicans and shorebirds move on the water like ghosts. It is stunning.

I love this old pier. Not only is the surf great next to it, but it serves as a nice respite from the intense sun. The only issue is dodging the fishing lines while you ride the warm Gulf waves.

Remnants of an old fishing pier. The weather here has finally turned, and warmth has replaced the endless cold snaps that flowed down all throughout February. Onward to March and lots of beach weather.

These birds make me laugh. They have a daily routine, just like people. Wake, feed, bathe, roost, feed, bathe, roost and so on. I can predict with accuracy when they will be doing each task. Natures internal alarm keeps them on schedule each day.

My girl

Often I see shots that are completely masked over. Every flaw is gone, and all the little things that make that person unique are edited out in an effort to make the portrait perfect. I will edit out the bit of Cheeto dust on a small face from a photo shot impromptu, but what about the permanent lines and markings?

People are not perfect. My daughter has very transparent skin on her face and as a result you can see the veins on her forehead. I have traced these lines with my finger every day of her life from the fist moment they laid her in my arms. They are a part of her and will be forever etched in my memory, so why would I want to edit them from her face?

Photography, to me, is capturing the moment. Every flawed bit of it.

Keep it real folks. Only God is perfect.
